Lieu Dit La Clotte, 33570 Lussac
Coming from families of Cognac producers, young owners Julie and Mathieu Mercier fell in love with Château La Grande Clotte. This couple of agronomist engineer and winemaker embarked on the adventure by acquiring the castle in 2016.
Estate initially entrusted in farming for 25 years, the charm and potential of the place seduced the new owners who aim to give back to this place its letters of nobility. With a family winemaking experience and an international professional background, Julie and Mathieu produce their wines there with passion and an innovative mindset.
The owners strive to produce a traditional wine, accessible to all. Their wine is in their image: it tells their story, strong with their North-American experience.
Several times rewarded, the quality of their wine and its reputation is no longer to be made: some wine specialist magazines regularly highlight it. From their first vintage from the 2016 harvest, they obtained 2 stars in the Michelin Hachette wine guide.
Château La Grande Clotte also welcomes you to spend the night on site, within recently renovated and tastefully decorated accommodation. The guest room, ideally located between the house and the cellars of the estate, offers a relaxing and refreshing escape in the heart of the Lussac vineyard, a few minutes from Saint-Emilion.
You will appreciate the living room area which opens directly onto the vineyards, access to the outside to enjoy the breathtaking view of the vines, as well as the breakfast composed of homemade and local products.
Become a winemaker for a day through a blending workshop orchestrated by the owners themselves: develop your senses and appreciate each of the grape varieties that will allow you to create a wine that resembles you.
Visits and tastings are also regularly scheduled to discover the property, its terroir and its wines.
